Bartender

POSITION SUMMARY

The STC Bartender is responsible for all service of food, beverage (alcoholic and non alcoholic), and Keno requests and guest interaction within the Spokane Tribe Casino’s Service Bars (Whaluks, Three Peaks and the Service Bar). The Bartender is responsible for consistently providing timely and exceptional guest service in accordance with the STC Mission Statement. The Bartender recognizes guest needs and is able to assist an answer questions in a professional and friendly manner while monitoring responsible alcohol consumption of the Guest. The Bartender also must communicate effectively with their Team and with the Kitchen Staff to ensure efficient operation of the STC Service Bars.

RATE OF PAY: $12.00 / Hour Plus Tips

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

(The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all inclusive for specific positions.)

  • Recognize guests immediately with a friendly greeting and informs them of daily specials.
  • Comply with company vision and mission by providing exceptional guest service.
  • Prepare cocktails for cocktail servers and guests of the Spokane Tribe Casino using prescribed recipes.
  • Maintain equipment in an orderly manner.
  • Advise Beverage Manager of any issues, safety concerns or equipment needs or repairs required.
  • Interact with guests in a manner which makes them feel comfortable and welcome while demonstrating salesmanship with complete menu and product knowledge.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Monitor proper par levels of all supplies at assigned bars.
  • Responsible for the security and accuracy of assigned bank and is accountable for all overages and shortages.
  • Notify/communicate with the appropriate kitchen staff of any food products that are not properly prepared.
  • Perform as a team, always ready to assist in the team’s success.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction through food quality checks and responsiveness to guest inquiries complaints.
  • Maintain a well groomed neat and clean appearance, carrying out duties with attention to sanitation safety.
  • Keep and accurate bank and provide correct change to guests.
  • Perform side work duties on daily basis and other duties as assigned.
  • In addition to serving food and beverage, the Bartender will also be tasked with assisting guests with playing Keno, which includes the following duties:
    • Verify Keno tickets for accuracy
    • Collect the tickets and cash from the Guest
    • Enter in the Keno ticket on the electronic Keno system, while ensuring accuracy
    • Assist guest with any questions regarding Keno
    • Keep an accurate bank and pay out Keno winnings timely and efficiently
  • Other duties as assigned.



WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must have ability to:

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, as well as serve food items and beverages.
  • Review and comprehend training materials and any other necessary documentation.
  • Take down orders, recite specials and point specific items out on the menu to customers.
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout an eight-hour shift.
  • Effectively and efficiently move throughout the bar area.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, team members, supervisory staff and kitchen staff.
  • Work in an environment that has varying levels of smoke, crowds, and noise the severity of which depends upon customer volume.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Familiarity with food, beverage and wine service required.
  • Must be able to mix a wide variety of cocktails.
  • Must have five (5) years of bartending experience.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Must interact with Guests and other Team Members in an upbeat and friendly manner.



REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, each employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Obtain and maintain required Class B Gaming License from the Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Must have and maintain a valid food handlers card and a valid liquor license through approved program (MAST).
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Spokane Tribe Casino.
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee’s department.
  • Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management
