Training Manager


POSITION SUMMARY

Enthusiastically facilitates and delivers all training programs, classes, and culture enhancement initiatives to a large, diverse audience. The organizational development programs include, but are not limited to, orientation, on-boarding, guest service, employee and management development, and various other courses.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

(The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all inclusive for specific positions.)

  • Administer all Spokane Tribe Casino training programs including the Management Mentee program and the STTEP Program. 
  • Consults with management to determine training needs, schedule training and review policies.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs security and safety training activities for all employees.
  • Works with Facilities and Security Department Managers to plan and implement employee training in work site safety, fire safety, emergency procedures and policy review training.
  • Coordinate CPR/First Aid/AED training.
  • Coordinate and participate in safety committee meetings and be actively involved in Safety programs.
  • Work with F&B Manager to ensure all ServSafe and Food Handler’s trainings/certifications are up to date.
  • Uphold Customer Service standards by coordinating ongoing customer service training.
  • Act as facilitator for all training courses and deliver all materials in an upbeat manner that is effective for an adult learning environment and has a positive impact on the organization.
  • Assist in the development, writing, and ongoing updating of training materials. The training materials may include: course content, visual charts, graphics, sound, videos, etc.
  • Assists in the scheduling of training sessions and Team Member notification.
  • Ensures rooms are booked for all training classes and assists in facility and audiovisual setup when needed.
  • Maintains database of completed Team Member training and track attendance sending updates to departments as needed.
  • Creates and maintains a system to audit training effectiveness 
  • Ensures all training materials are ordered and course content is current.
  • Must have the ability to adjust training style to accommodate learning capabilities, energy level, and participation level.
  • Must be physically present at work, in assigned work station, in order to perform all functions required of the position.
  • Other duties as required as a member of the Human Resources team.

 


 WORKING CONDITIONS

 Must have ability to:

  • Review, comprehend and respond to all necessary department information. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, as well as all outside contacts.
  • Develop and manage training programs and department plan within budget constraints.
  • Develop effective training and development programs for all positions.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to effectively operate under the Spokane Tribe Casino vision and mission and guiding principles and commit to training and mentoring Spokane Tribal Members as well as others that meet Indian preference. 
  • Use a computer and Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Must adhere to the Spokane Tribe Casino Employee Handbook.
  • Must adhere to our customer service standards by providing excellent customer service.

·         Must interact with Guests and other Team Members in an upbeat and friendly manner.

  • The Training Manager must be proactive and identify problems, & solutions and follow through with the HR Director.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and internal Casino employees.

 


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. Higher education is preferred.
  • Must have at least two years of related experience in a training/facilitator role; preferably in a casino/hospitality or similar setting role (preference will be given to those that have casino training experience) – OR – willing to consider two years of teaching/education experience specific to planning and creating curriculum.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite and Keynote Presentation.
  • Public speaking required, must be extremely comfortable in a group setting and speaking in front of groups of all sizes.  Previous experience public speaking required.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, proofreading and grammatical skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have exemplary customer service skills.  Must be able to deliver amplified service to employees and Spokane Tribal Members.

 


REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Employment is contingent upon successful background checks and ability to obtain required gaming license through the Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Spokane Tribe Casino.
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee’s department.
  • Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management

 


WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Primarily works in office environment but duties include all casino facilities, especially the Cage, Slots, and IT, where incumbent may experience moderate noise and secondary smoke.
  • Capable of working for extended periods of time at work station, performing tasks on computer and working with documents.
  • Work in varying levels of noise and vibration.
  • Review and comprehend reports and/or documents and input the correct information into the computer.
  • Carry and reach in order to perform filing duties.
